On August 7, 2014, President Obama signed into law the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014 (“VACAA”). Technical revisions to VACAA were made on September 26, 2014, when the President signed into law the Department of Veterans Affairs Expiring Authorities Act of 2014. The Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) goal continues to be to provide timely, high-quality health care for Veterans.
Section 101 of VACAA requires VA to establish a temporary program (“the Choice Program”) to improve Veteran’s access to health care by allowing eligible Veterans to use eligible health care providers outside of the VA system (non-VA care). Sections 102 and 103 of VACAA are also discussed in the document of the following hyperlink HERE .
