The Non Commissioned Officers Association is most appreciative of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for recognizing America’s Veterans on Veterans Day.
HUD makes a great effort to Honor the Valor, Courage and Sacrifice of America’s Armed Forces. Veterans Day 2013 was no exception to that commitment. HUD held a formal program on November 6, 2013 – a work day – so that all employees including many veterans could join guests of the Armed Forces and representatives of NCOA and other Veteran Service organizations. This Veterans Day Program was simulcast in ALL HUD Field Offices.
NCOA was invited by The Honorable Shaun Donovan, HUD Secretary, to present the Veteran Veterans Day Call to Action. The 8th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Vince Patton, NCOA Board Member, provided that challenge to all. Eloquently speaking, he called on the audience to Honor the Military Service of all who have answered the Clarion Call to Duty during war and peace to secure and preserve the freedoms enjoyed by all Americans. This Nation must never FORGET the personal sacrifices made by the Men and Women of the Armed Forces. They have individually risked life and limb in answering the call to duty, and many carry with them the scars of war. HUD leadership and employees were recognized for their Department’s Celebrations to honor all America’s Veterans.
NCOA salutes the Department of Housing and Urban Development as one among the few Federal Departments that recognizes and annually formally celebrates Veterans Day.
