Down East Chapter Recognizes Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune

Down East Chapter Chairman Paul Miethker presents a Certificate of Appreciation to Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune’s Commanding Officer, Jim Hancock.

A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune’s Commanding Officer, Jim Hancock, during morning colors on December 22, 2016. The certificate was presented by NCOA Down East Chapter #906 Chairman Paul Miethker. The certificate was awarded to the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune for Loyalty and Patriotism to our country by Publicly and Proudly Displaying The American Flag.

Bringing Holiday Cheer

More than 30 volunteers took time to visit the Hyesimwon Youth Center recently to bring holiday cheer to more than 50 of the children living there. Members of the NCOA Dragon Hill Chapter, MARFOR-K, 121st CSH and others joined together to provide dinner, toys and more. Some even joined in to sing a few Christmas tunes with the children! A great time was had by the children and volunteers alike!

Rogue Chapter Hosts Snowflake Event

The NCOA Rogue Chapter recently hosted a Snowflake event at Hellgate Jetboat Excursions in Grant’s Pass, Oregon, on the Rogue River.

Down East Chapter Presents Awards

Sir Thomas Gerken, Magnum Force Chapter’s Scholarship Chairman presents a Certificate of Achievement to Emilee LeRoux, recipient of an NCOA Magnum Force Chapter Scholarship. Emilee plans to attend Michigan State University. One of the first things on her “to-do” list is to purchase a MSU hat for her grandfather who is an avid University of Michigan fan!

SAHS Scholarships

The NCOA Korea Dragon Hill Chapter recently presented scholarships to 2 Seoul American High School Seniors. Jay Kim and Latisha Dolford each received scholarships in the amount of $1000.00. Ariyana Canty from Dague High School was also selected to receive a chapter scholarship. The Dragon Hill Chapter recently presented the NCOA JROTC Award, medal, and certificate, and a chapter coin at the JROTC Pass-In-Review on 25 May, to two Cadet 1SGs.  Both cadets did an outstanding job as first sergeants of their respective companies within the Falcon Command.

NCOA’s Oregon State Advisory Council Chairman Sir Roger Arnold and members from the Oregon-based chapters recently gathered at the American Legion Hall in Roseburg, Oregon, for the Annual Oregon State Meeting.

A virtual who’s who of Oregon and Roseburg dignataries was on hand to welcome and brief the meeting’s attendees to include Roseburg Mayor Larry Rich, Douglas County Commissioner Tim Freeman, Roseburg Medical Center Director Douglas Paxton, Douglas County Veteran Service Officer Pat Plouford, Douglas County Veterans Forum President John McDonald, South Willamette Valley Honor Flight Director Mike Pungercar,  Oregon Dept of Veterans Affair Director Cameron Smith.  Gigi Shannon and Carol Hunt presented a seminar on death benefits and NCOA Board Member Sir Terry Haines presented an NCOA update and legislative briefing.

REGIONAL CHAPTERS OF THE YEAR FOR 2105 NAMED

Large and Small Regional Chapter of the Year for 2015 were selected based on information provided to Headquarters on the Annual Chapter Operations Report and synopsis of activities for 2015.   Our chapters put in a lot of hard work and volunteer hours each year and it is our pleasure to recognize the efforts of the following chapters selected as the Large and Small Regional Chapters of the Year for 2015:

Congratulations to these dedicated chapters and their hardworking members.  Winners of the Regional Chapter of the Year awards will be in contention for the coveted 2015 Outstanding Chapter of the Year awards to be presented on July 14 during the Awards Banquet at the Association’s Annual Membership Meeting and Awards Tribute in Las Vegas.

 

 

 

Dragon Hill Hosts Month of the Military Child Event

M of MC BOWLING 2 Saturday, April 23, saw the NCOA Dragon Hill Chapter teaming up with Area II BOSS, Area II SAMC, Yongsan Lanes and NU Foundation to host the 2nd Annual Month Of the Military Child Bowling Friendship Event.

Volunteers and youth from on and off base enjoyed some bowling, pizza, team building and marble cake in recognition of the Month of the Military Child.  Everyone had a fantastic time!

As always, a huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers and sponsors for their awesome support in making this event a success!
